BRIDGE
ABOUT FARMEN INVITATIONAL
FARMEN 1 FARMEN 2 FARMEN 3 FARMEN 4
As a tournament player - I - like many of you - have gotten to know with very many players at home and abroad through our participation in a lot of tournaments. Bridge is a part of our life style, and only we who are bridgeplayers are fully able to understand the game. We know that anybody who learns bridge will be hooked for the rest of theirs life.
It has been a long way for me as for you. It is unnessecary to explain the contents of my bridge life during nearly 40 year, but I will mention a couple of things: I - as you - have seen and understood the pleasure of the game. Some of us used more power than others to learn as much as possible, others have not the same ambitions, but they still enjoyed takeing part in the competitions. I have meet players who hardly understood Blackwood (read the funny history later), and I had the pleasure to play at the same table as Benito (my hero), Meckstrom-Rodwell, the best Frenchmen, Austrian, and many other world known players.
And they all have the same ting in common: THEY LOVE THE GAME
As bridgeplayers we belong to a dying kind of people, but many of us try to keep alive the sport as long as possible.
Now - as early retired on my old "Farm" I have the opportunity to do some marketing for the sport. My websites are popular because I have information from "Our world" - not only results, but about bridge players as well, and since "everybody knows everybody" - many like it. An excample: When our own "Uncle", Trond Hegrand, just was falling in love, I HAD to inform everybody about it - and we all take part in it and enjoy the situation. May be we also will produce a joke about each other - so is life between friends.
I also must tell you the true story from when I spoke with my good friend "Uncle" (Trond "Wirkola" Hegrand) and invited him to the event. He answered: Yes my friend, I would enjoy it BUT AT FIRST I MUST ASK MY AUTHORITIES, (hers name then was is Britt, at the time I dont know :)) - LOL !!
I arrange the "Farmen Invitational" - normally over a long weekend, but it can also be for a week if we wish. We are playing bridge on as high level as possible - but for fun !! Now we can also show it to the whole world through BBO vugraph and we do. Fred Gitelman has done a great job with his BBO project, and Roland let us go world wide - HIYAH!
And in our big bridge-family we also got several expert cooks too, so the stay at "Farmen" it is a happening where friends are meeting, and with bridge, very good food and outdoor life if we like. In a few words: we "get together". So far all of the participants demand to be invited again.
My intention with the event is to meet friends and players, have a social time, and publicize our hobby.
AND NOW THE BLACKWOOD HISTORY:
At the table opponents had almost all resources, and we was not a part of the bidding. During the bidding sequense RHO bid 4 clubs (Gerber), and this was in that time we asked too mush and without any reason. His P answered: Asking for aces. I passed, and LHO bid 4 NT. Now my P asked what that meant: And now the unforgetable answer: Now HE is asking for MY aces. A TRUE STORY !!
